This Privacy Policy explains how Meal Buddy Planner (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you visit mealbuddyplanner.com (the “Site”) and when you use the Meal Buddy Planner iPad and iPhone app (the “App”).
Meal Buddy Planner is designed with privacy in mind. Meals, handwriting, saved recipes, and shopping items stay on your devices and in your iCloud account. We do not collect, transmit, or store that information on our servers. We do not use analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking.
1. Who We Are
Meal Buddy Planner is developed and operated by Luis Barragan.
- Website: https://mealbuddyplanner.com
- Support: luis@luisbarragan.com
2. When You Visit the Site
If you only browse the Site, we collect very little:
- Basic server and security logs (for example, IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps) to keep the Site secure and running.
- Contact information if you email us directly.
We do not use third-party advertising trackers on the Site. If we add analytics or cookies in the future, we will update this policy.
3. Information We Access in the App
Meal plans and shopping lists
The App stores the information you enter, including handwritten meal titles, ingredients, saved recipes, shopping items, and which days and meals you plan each week. This data is used only to show your plan, widget, and shopping list.
Apple Reminders
With your permission, Meal Buddy Planner can create a Reminders list and add shopping items to the list you choose. We do not read your other reminders. You can revoke access in Settings → Privacy & Security → Reminders.
Handwriting recognition
When you write a meal title with Apple Pencil, the App can convert that handwriting to text on your device using Apple’s Vision framework. Recognition runs locally. We do not send handwriting images to our servers.
Information stored on your device
Meal Buddy Planner also saves preferences locally, including:
- Which Reminders list you selected
- Whether the week starts on Sunday or Monday
- Apple Pencil-only drawing on meal cards
- Whether you have completed onboarding
Today’s meals for the Home Screen widget are stored in an App Group on the device so the widget can read them. That snapshot is not sent to us.
4. Where Your Data Is Stored
On your devices
Your data is stored locally using Apple’s SwiftData framework.
iCloud
When you are signed into iCloud, meals, handwriting, saved recipes, and shopping items sync through your private CloudKit database so iPad and iPhone stay in sync on the same Apple Account.
- Sync is tied to your Apple ID.
- We do not operate our own cloud servers for your meal data.
- We cannot access your synced data.
- If iCloud is unavailable, the App continues working locally.
5. Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect:
- Your name, email address, or contact information (unless you email us directly)
- Account or login information (Meal Buddy Planner has no user accounts)
- Meal contents, handwriting, or shopping lists on our servers
- Usage analytics or crash reports sent to us
- Location data
- Device identifiers for tracking purposes
6. How Your Data Is Used
App data is used only on your devices (and in your iCloud account) to:
- Display this week’s meals on iPad and iPhone
- Show today’s meals in the Home Screen widget
- Build a shopping list and send items to Reminders when you ask
- Recognize handwritten meal titles on device
7. Third-Party Services
Meal Buddy Planner does not integrate with third-party analytics, advertising, or cloud storage services. Meal data syncs through Apple iCloud. Shopping items you send go to Apple Reminders.
If you choose to contact us by email at luis@luisbarragan.com, we will receive the information you include in your message solely to respond to your inquiry.
8. App Store Purchases
If you download Meal Buddy Planner through the App Store, Apple processes payments under Apple’s Privacy Policy. We never receive your full payment card information.
9. Data Retention
Because we do not collect or store your meal data on our servers, there is no server-side data retention. App data remains on your devices until you delete it. iCloud data remains in your Apple account and is governed by Apple’s policies. Reminders you create stay in Apple Reminders until you delete them.
10. Your Choices and Control
You can:
- Revoke Reminders access in Settings → Privacy & Security → Reminders
- Sign out of iCloud or manage CloudKit data through your Apple Account
- Delete the app to remove locally stored preferences and meal data on that device
11. Children’s Privacy
Meal Buddy Planner is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of Meal Buddy Planner after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
13. Contact Us
